Bruxism

Bruxism is characterized by the grinding of the teeth and clenching of the jaw. This can happen at any time during a person’s life, but when this occurs while sleeping, many health issues can occur. Bruxism is one of the most common sleep disorders. Grinding your teeth can wear them down and cause dental problems and be noisy and bothersome to a sleeping partner. Clenching puts pressure on the muscles, tissues and structures of the jaw and can lead to temporomandibular joint problems, or TMJ.
